Yoga teacher training and retreats in the Himalaya

Every programme above is run by Yoga Bhawna Mission, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 & 500) teaching in the Garhwal Himalaya. Our main school is in Uttarkashi on the banks of the Bhagirathi, on the road to Gangotri, with a second campus in Rishikesh. All courses are residential: accommodation in rooms with attached bathrooms and sattvic vegetarian meals are included.

Teacher training

The 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is a 22-day course in classical Hatha yoga for a maximum of 20 students, covering asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy and teaching practice, and leads to Yoga Alliance RYT 200 registration. Teachers who have completed a foundation course can continue with the 50-day 500 Hour Advanced YTTC. For an overview of training in India, see Yoga Teacher Training in India and Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh.

Retreats

For a shorter stay, choose the 3 night Himalayan Yoga & Wellness Retreat, residential or non-residential, for relaxation, rejuvenation and mindfulness; or join our daily yoga & wellness classes. Himalayan Yoga Retreats in India compares them in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Which programme is right for me?

Choose a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training if you want to teach or to study yoga properly (22-day intensive, 45-day work-from-home or 100-day weekend course); the 300 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training or the 500 Hour Advanced YTTC if you already hold a 200 hour certificate; the 3 night Himalayan Yoga & Wellness Retreat for a short break; or the daily yoga and wellness classes for a regular practice.

Are accommodation and meals included?

On the residential courses and the residential retreat, yes: accommodation and sattvic vegetarian meals are included. The 100-day weekend course, the non-residential retreat and the daily classes do not include accommodation.

How big are the groups?

A maximum of 20 students on teacher training and 15 on retreats.

What is the difference between a retreat and a teacher training?

A retreat is a short residential stay for rest and practice and is open to all levels. A teacher training is a structured course with a syllabus, assessment and practice teaching, and leads to Yoga Alliance registration as a teacher.

Where are the courses held?

At our main school in Uttarkashi, on the Bhagirathi in the Garhwal Himalaya. We also have a campus in Rishikesh.
