A 22-day residential course in classical Hatha yoga for a maximum of 20 students: asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy and supervised teaching practice. Leads to Yoga Alliance RYT 200 registration.
Shorter residential stays in Uttarkashi: a 7 day yoga and meditation retreat open to beginners, a 10 day Ashtanga immersion and a 5 day wellness and detox escape.
A 50-day residential course for teachers who have completed foundation-level training and want to deepen their practice, study and teaching.

Everything we offer, from a daily class or a 3 night retreat to the 500 hour training, comes from the same idea: yoga is a complete discipline, not a fitness class. Asana prepares the body; pranayama steadies the breath; meditation, mantra and the study of texts such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, the Bhagavad Gita and the classical Hatha texts give the practice its direction. Our teaching is rooted in classical Hatha yoga, with Ashtanga taught as a separate, structured method for those drawn to it.
Because every course is residential, the day itself becomes the teacher. Mornings begin early with pooja and group yagya at the Shiva temple on our premises in Uttarkashi, followed by pranayama and asana, either in the indoor shala or on the bank of the Bhagirathi. Lectures in philosophy, anatomy and teaching method follow after breakfast; afternoons bring rest and a second practice; evenings close with meditation and an early night. Meals are sattvic and vegetarian.
Groups stay small, a maximum of 20 on teacher training and 15 on retreats, so teachers can watch and adjust each student. Teacher training includes supervised practice teaching, with feedback on the classes you lead.
Still deciding? Read about our two locations, browse the journal, or write to us about your practice and what you hope to get from your time here.
Not for the 200 hour trainings, the Himalayan Wellness Retreat or the daily classes, which are open to beginners. The 300 and 500 hour courses are for people who have completed a 200 hour training.
Classes are taught in English, and our teachers also speak Hindi.
An early start with pooja and yagya at the temple, then pranayama and asana, lectures in philosophy, anatomy or teaching method after breakfast, rest and a second practice in the afternoon, and meditation in the evening.
Yes. Every teacher training ends with a certificate issued by Sanatana Yog Sandesh, the organisation behind Yoga Bhawna Mission, after a written examination, a practical, assessed teaching and a viva voce.
