Yoga Teacher Training in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand, the Himalayan state of northern India, has drawn yogis for centuries. It is the land of the Ganges and its source rivers, of the Char Dham pilgrimage and of the ashrams of Rishikesh. Yoga Bhawna Mission is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 & 500) with both of its campuses here: the main school in Uttarkashi on the Bhagirathi, and a second campus in Rishikesh.

Why Uttarakhand for yoga

Few places are as closely tied to the history of yoga. Rishikesh, where the Ganges leaves the mountains, became known worldwide as a centre of yoga in the twentieth century. Higher up, the valleys of the Garhwal Himalaya lead to the four shrines of the Char Dham pilgrimage, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, and towns such as Uttarkashi have been places of retreat for sadhus and seekers for generations. Training here means learning yoga where it is still part of daily life, not only a class.
