Yoga teacher training and retreats in the Himalaya

Every programme above is run by Yoga Bhawna Mission, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 & 500) teaching in the Garhwal Himalaya. Our main school is in Uttarkashi on the banks of the Bhagirathi, on the road to Gangotri, with a second campus in Rishikesh. All courses are residential: accommodation in rooms with attached bathrooms, sattvic vegetarian meals and pick-up from Dehradun airport are included.

Teacher training

The 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is a 26-day course in classical Hatha yoga for a maximum of 20 students, covering asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy and teaching practice, and leads to Yoga Alliance RYT 200 registration. Teachers who have completed a foundation course can continue with the 50-day 500 Hour Advanced YTTC. For an overview of training in India, see Yoga Teacher Training in India and Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh.

Retreats

For a shorter stay, choose the 7 Day Himalayan Yoga & Meditation Retreat, open to beginners; the 10 Day Ashtanga Immersion for a strong daily practice; or the 5 Day Wellness & Detox Escape for gentle yoga, breathwork and rest. Himalayan Yoga Retreats in India compares them in more detail.

Before you book

March to June and September to November are the most comfortable months in the mountains. Our guides cover how to reach Uttarkashi, what to pack, what a training costs and Hatha vs Ashtanga. Questions about dates or which programme suits you? Contact us.
